Chicago Cubs left-hander Justin Steele was scratched from Sunday’s start against the Los Angeles Dodgers because of arm fatigue.

Manager David Ross said the arm fatigue began on Saturday following a light “touch and feel” bullpen session from Friday.

Ross added the Cubs were “erring on the side of caution” in scratching Steele and instead starting Javier Assad.

If there are no further setbacks in the next few days, Steele will then throw another bullpen and hopefully take the mound for his next start.

Steele went 4-7 with a 3.18 ERA in 24 starts for the Cubs last season.
