Chicago Cubs Thursday Notes: Suzuki and Stroman
Happy Thursday Chicago Cubs fans! The end of the week is almost here, so close you can taste it. There is some good news today as outfielder Seiya Suzuki has resumed baseball activities.
According to Cubs manager David Ross, Suzuki has begun taking dry swings and playing catch. It's a good sign for the Cubs as they hope to have Suzuki back as soon as possible without rushing him.
The starting of baseball activities is a good sign as he begins the path of returning to the field and active roster.
In other news, Chicago starter Marcus Stroman will start on Friday for Team Puerto Rico as they face Team Mexico in the quarterfinals of the World Baseball Classic. We have entered the sudden death portion of the tournament and Stroman represents Puerto Rico's best chance of advancing.
They defeated the vaunted Dominican Republic squad on Wednesday night and will now face the winners of Pool C.
It'll be a good test for Stroman as he prepares for the 2023 MLB season.
