Chicago Cubs Top Prospect Invited to MLB Spring Training
As MLB Spring Training draws nearer, the picture begins to take shape as to who on the fringes might make the roster. Equally important to trying to break onto the 26-man roster is the experience that prospects can glean from time with the Major League camp.
The Chicago Cubs just announced that their top prospect, Pete Crow-Armstrong, was invited to the Big League camp as a non-roster invite. Crow-Armstrong is the consensus top prospect in Chicago's farm system and possesses elite skills at the plate and defensively in centerfield. Last season he won a Minor League Gold Glove and slashed .312/.376/.520 with 16 home runs at the Single-A level.
The outfielder will be able to experience the MLB routine, work ethic, and lifestyle for a couple of weeks this spring while also learning from Cody Bellinger the 2019 NL MVP.
Other top prospects who will also get some time with the Major League camp are Matt Mervis and Chase Strumpf.
