Could Chicago Cubs Blockbuster Trade With Yankees Be On Horizon?
The Chicago Cubs may just have two of the hottest and biggest trade chips on the market when it comes to Cody Bellinger and Marcus Stroman.
While Stroman has been linked to every pitching-needy team, one rumor involving Bellinger appears to have some legs.
Bellinger is heavily sought after by the New York Yankees according to the New York Post. Jon Heyman states eight reasons why Bellinger would make a good fit in the Bronx.
Chief among them is his offensive performance this season, the fact he is left-handed and his incredible defensive skills in center field.
While the former MVP is considered a rental as he is in the midst of a one-year, $17.5 million contract, he will still come at a significant cost.
He is arguably the best bat available, plays all three outfield spots and first base. He's an All-Star, MVP and Gold Glover.
Still, the Yankees are known for making big splashes and Bellinger just feels like the perfect fit for New York. Adding him would go a long way in boosting their chances of making the postseason and ultimately winning another World Series.
For Chicago, they will look to get back some MLB or near MLB-ready talent in return to reload and pursue contention next season.
It's a perfect fit for both sides.
