The Chicago Cubs may have gotten an absolute steal of a bargain when they signed Cody Bellinger this offseason.

Maybe facing his former team gave Cody Bellinger the jolt of confidence he needed.

Bellinger ripped five hits as part of the Chicago Cubs’ resounding 10-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics on Monday.

After hitting a mammoth home run at Los Angeles, Bellinger found his stroke in the opener of the series against Oakland.

It’s still a long way off from 2019 when Bellinger was named National League Most Valuable Player.

But he sure looked like he was in sync.

"I just felt pretty good today," Bellinger said. "Leading up to today before the game, I think those days it's (been) a little more -- not relaxing, but you just know you feel good. You just want to continue to lock it in because it's still hard to get hits in the big leagues, even if you feel really good."

The five hits pushed Bellinger’s average to .310 with three home runs and 10 RBI.

If this type of production continues, the one-year, $17.5 million deal will look to be one of the best in Major League Baseball.

After going 1-3 to begin the season, the Cubs have now won eight of their last 11 games.

Thanks in large part to Bellinger.

"We're rolling," Bellinger said. "Up and down through our lineup, there's not a weak spot. … I think we saw it in Spring Training, and now that we're all coming together every day … we're having a good time."
