The Chicago Cubs are currently managed by one of their former players David Ross.

He was a clubhouse leader and fan favorite during his playing days with the Cubs, helping them win a World Series title.

The MLB is full of former players who are current managers in today's game.

One of Chicago's former stars should follow that same path when he's done playing according to his current teammate.

Jason Heyward spent seven years with the Cubs and was on the team that won the World Series. He departed last offseason to the Los Angeles Dodgers where he reunited with his close friend Freddie Freeman.

According to Freeman, the veteran outfielder should get into managing.

"He would be an amazing manager – if he wanted to. I just don’t know. He has every quality you’d want. He’ll be able to do whatever he wants to do in this game because of how he’s conducted himself over his career and the person he is. They’ll want him around," the superstar first baseman said.

Freeman knows Heyward very well from their time in the Atlanta Braves organization. They both debuted in 2010 and were teammates for five years.

The 34-year-old emerged as a leader in the Dodgers clubhouse this season.

Heyward might say he has more gas in his tank before looking at the end of his career as he finished with a slash line of .269/.340/.473, 15 home runs and 40 RBI in 124 games.

The former Chicago star will become a free agent when the offseason begins as he figures out the next steps he wants to take.
