MLB.com updated their prospect ratings and put out their rankings of every team's pipeline to reflect the changes. They are extremely high on the future of the Chicago Cubs with what they have in their pipeline.

They are one of the best pipelines in baseball with five of their prospects making the Top 100 list.

After the updated rankings they gave for the prospects, MLB.com is also projecting who the best prospects will be in every team's organization in 2025.

The three staff writers predicted shortstop Matt Shaw to be the Cubs best prospect in 2025.

He's currently ranked as the sixth overall Chicago prospect in his first season as a professional baseball player. Shaw played three games with the rookie ball team before moving up the High-A affiliate.

MLB.com writes, "The highest pick ever out of the University of Maryland, Shaw won the Cape Cod League batting title (.360) and MVP award in 2022 before going 13th overall this July. He combines aggressiveness and discipline at the plate and has hit .429/.481/.755 with three homers and five steals in his first 13 games as a pro, mostly in High-A."

This pick may come as a surprise to many people because he isn't as big of a name as many of the other prospects in the pipeline. However, many of the highly touted prospects will be called up the Cubs major league team before 2025 based on how they've been performing.

Shaw is a 21-year-old player just scratching the surface of what he potentially can do at the professional level. There's a bright future ahead for him and someone to keep an eye on.
