The Iowa Cubs scored four runs in the top of the 9th inning, outlasting St. Paul 12-11, improving to 4-0 on the season. Roenis Elías picked up his first win of the season, fanning five batters across 4.0 innings of work.

The Smokies dropped their regular season opener to the Birmingham Barons on Thursday, 6-2. Ryan Jensen toed the rubber for Tennessee completing 4.0 innings on 61 pitches, allowing five hits, two runs (one earned), one walk, and fanned five.

Single-A (Myrtle Beach)
Myrtle Beach started their season 0-1 with a 6-2 loss to Charleston, who used a three-run second inning to propel past the Pelicans. Grant Kipp struggled with his command, throwing 33 of his 61 total pitches for strikes. The 23-year-old lasted only 3.0 innings, allowing three hits, four runs (one earned), four walks, but fanned three as well.
