Corbin Carroll will be returning home to play in his first ever All-Star Game. The Diamondbacks rookie outfielder earned a starting spot in the outfield for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game, which will be played in his hometown of Seattle. Carroll will be the first rookie in franchise history to start an All-Star Game and second to receive All-Star honors, after Wade Miley in 2012.

Carroll was originally a first round pick by the Diamondbacks out of Lakeside High School in Seattle in 2019. He was named the No. 2 overall prospect to start the season and is enjoying a breakout rookie campaign where he is hitting .290 with 17 home runs, 44 RBI, and 24 stolen bases in 78 games. FanGraphs and Baseball Reference estimate his value to be an average of 3.75 Wins Above Replacement, which ranks second in the NL for position players behind Acuña. He is a big reason behind the D-backs surge to the top of the NL West standings and is the overwhelming favorite to win Rookie of the Year.

Here's Carroll and his teammates' reaction after receiving the good news:

Carroll has already had some unforgettable experiences in his rookie year. Suns superstar forward Kevin Durant, a player he watched as a rookie in the Supersonics' final season in Seattle, was wearing a Carroll jersey earlier this season. Now he'll get to enjoy his first All-Star experience with his friends and family in Seattle.
