Dave Roberts on Shohei Ohtani: 'Still Got to Pinch Myself to See Him in a Dodgers Uniform'
The Los Angeles Dodgers had as successful an offseason as they possibly could have imagined. The Dodgers got not only one but two of the top free agents in the market in two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani and top pitcher Yoshinobu Yamamoto.
Ohtani is the main act, though, and for the next 10 years, he'll don the Dodger blue.
Although it's been nearly two months since Ohtani initially announced he was joining the Dodgers, manager Dave Roberts is still in disbelief the superstar is actually on his team. Roberts spoke to reporters recently and said he still needs to pinch himself when he sees Ohtani in a Dodger uniform.
The rumors were always there that Ohtani would eventually come to Los Angeles, but it felt like a surreal moment when it finally happened. The Dodgers have the best player in the league, and fans will get to witness him in Los Angeles for the next 10 years.
Ohtani is everything the Dodgers and Roberts could ask for. He's committed to his craft, he's a great teammate, and he's really, really good on a baseball field.
In a short amount of time, Ohtani has already become a fan favorite. Just wait until he takes the field in a real game.
