Dodgers Coach Provides Exciting Update on Shortstop Gavin Lux
A little less than a year after tearing his ACL, Gavin Lux is preparing himself to be the next shortstop for the Dodgers. Most expected Lux to have a breakout year in 2023, but a knee injury suffered in spring training sidelined him the whole season.
Now, Lux consistently posts videos on Instagram of him working out and getting ready for the season. Dino Ebel, Dodgers third base coach, joined SportsNet LA and gave an exciting update on Lux's progress.
"He’s on track. He’s taking ground balls. He’s in cleats. He’s running. He’s determined to be ready by spring training games. And everything right now is on par," Ebel said. "Great attitude, he looks good taking grounders, he’s moving well. So just a matter of time. It’s gonna be more mentally than physically."
This is an excellent update regarding the Dodgers' shortstop. The Dodgers need Lux in 2024 to hold down the shortstop position. He provides good contact and plate discipline, and his speed makes him a threat on the base paths. Overall, he's an excellent compliment to the other lefty mashers on the roster like Max Muncy and Shohei Ohtani.
Hopefully, Lux's 2024 is what 2023 should have been for him. If he continues to be a plus-bat hitting ninth and turning over the lineup, then the superstar top of the order will do some serious damage.
