Blake Treinen spent most of last year at Camelback Ranch after suffering a partial tear in his right shoulder capsule in the spring of 2022. He opted for rehabilitation over surgery, ultimately making a return that September.

He underwent labrum and rotator cuff surgery in Nov. 2022.

Now, the electric reliever is healthy and looking forward to earning a spot on the Opening Day roster.

“My biggest thing is I want to be healthy. I sat out for practically two years now, and the organization blessed me, and it doesn’t sit well with me that I haven’t performed to bless them (back for what) they blessed me financially. The biggest reason for me coming back is I want to at least honor my contract and give them what they at least invested in.”

Treinen's road back has been frustrating but in November, everything started to click. The discomfort lessened and he began to feel like himself again.

In a contract year, Treinen is determined to be the same competitor he was before all the injuries.

“This year’s really special, and I really want to get back and prove to people that God’s not done with this story."

Manager Dave Roberts wants Treinen to start the season on the active roster and after throwing a scoreless inning on Tuesday in his 2024 Cactus League debut. After his performance, he is well on his way.
