Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Believes Team is Leaving Something on the Table in Series vs Braves

Not the outcome he's expected so far.

In a series pitting the titans of the National League against one another, the Dodgers haven't been able to match the intensity necessary to beat the Atlanta Braves in the first two games of their current four-game series.

LA manager Dave Roberts is obviously displeased with how the start of the series has gone to this point, believing that the issues in the rotation have been the biggest culprit for the losses so far.

“Yeah, I think that’s fair,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said when asked if the greatest distance between the National League’s two best teams is the starting pitching. “Not to take anything away from our guys but the numbers don’t lie. But as far as collectively, I think we can do a better job of preventing runs than we’ve shown in these two games. But, yeah, their starting pitching you could argue might be the best in baseball.”

Indeed the striking difference from the Braves arms that was discussed in the lead up to the series has reared its ugly head for the Dodgers lineup to experience first hand.

Though a comeback effort was nice to see on Thursday night's contest, Spencer Strider remained largely untouched with nine Ks and just one blemish being a three run home run to Mookie Betts in a game the Braves would win.

Lance Lynn gave up three home runs and seven runs in the match against Strider, but the Dodgers didn't fare any better in Friday night's contest.

Max Fried twirled seven shutout innings compared to Julio Urias' five runs in a game that didn't really feel close from the early stages due to multiple solo shots given up to the Braves lineup.

Though the individual matchups between MVP candidates is a key talking point to this series, the Braves have made any conversations about who the class of the NL is very quiet due to their advantages over the Dodgers rotation.
