Dodgers News: Dave Roberts Talks Ryan Pepiot’s Potential Postseason Role
Fully recovered from the oblique injury that had sidelined him for a majority of the season, Dodgers rookie pitcher Ryan Pepiot impressed Dodger fans once more in what's been a triumphant and healthy return to the majors this season.
Pitching well against the Tigers in his most recent outing on Tuesday night, the young righty has continued to make a name for himself, prompting his manager Dave Roberts to speak about his potential postseason role in high regard.
“He’s making a good claim,” Roberts said. “He’s open to whatever we need and his part of the deal is he’s got to go out there and pitch well. And he’s holding up his end of the deal.”

Taking on both a starting role and bulk work out of the bullpen across his many appearances for the team, it was the latter in his most recent game where Pepiot was dominant against Detroit.
After opener Caleb Ferguson gave up one run in his first inning of work, it was Pepiot who took on six innings of work, with the only blemish on his final stat line coming in the form of one solo home run.
Gutting out a 97 pitch outing, Pepiot was efficient and got out of trouble when he needed to, specifically in the seventh inning which turned out to be his last.
With two on and two out, the promising youngster got a fly ball to keep the game a 2-1 score at the time, leading the Dodger offense to come alive late and walk off Detroit for their 93rd win of the year.
Leaving it up to an emotional Brusdar Graterol and Alex Vesia to close out the game on the pitching side, Roberts has to be pleased with his pitching staff overall as he prepares for the NLDS in just a few weeks.
