Dodgers News: Freddie Freeman, Mookie Betts React to Frustrating NLDS Exit
The Dodgers have been eliminated from the postseason following an embarrassing three games against the Arizona Diamondbacks. This isn't what anyone thought would happen, but it's now the reality that LA finds itself in.
Many believed that the team could handle Arizona and that they remembered how it felt to lose to the Padres last season. But it turns out that the 2023 version of this team fell from even greater heights.
LA was swept by their division rival, and once again their offense went completely cold. For all the talk about the pitching entering the series, it was the batters who cost them this season.
The two stars that led the Dodgers all season long, Freddie Freeman and Mookie Betts, went a combined 1-21 in the series. And when your two best players perform like that, it's difficult to beat anyone.
Freeman spoke about the series loss, and like everyone else, he was stunned at it happening.
“It’s hard to put into words. It’s just frustrating and, me and a lot of us didn’t play the way we wanted to.”

Normally a reliable bat in the Dodgers lineup, Freeman fell off the rails completely. He couldn't do much of anything against Arizona, and it cost this team. The blame doesn't only fall at his feet, but he is one of the leaders of this ballclub.
“I had pitches to hit all night and rolled them over, just like I’ve been doing for five weeks.”

Betts didn't do anything in the series, and like Freeman, it hurt this team. He acknowledged that fact once the game was over.
"I can't speak for all of us but I did absolutely nothing to help us win."
The Dodgers now enter into the offseason with a ton of questions to answer. They don't know who will be in their starting rotation, and we could see some changes made all across the board. Something needs to be done because whatever their strategy has been in the postseason, it's clearly not working.
