Dodgers Rumors: Insider Predicts LA Gets Knocked Out in NLCS, But Not by Braves
The MLB playoffs are always a fun time for everyone. They give each team that qualifies a sense that they can be the ones to lift the trophy.
But unlike in other sports, the baseball playoffs aren’t always about the best team winning the championship each season. In a sense, the baseball playoffs are essentially a crapshoot each season, and the team that wins the championship normally is the one that got hot at the right time.
We see it happen all the time, and the worst nightmare for a top-seeded team is a wild-card team that has all of the momentum on their side. The Dodgers know this all too well, from last season getting knocked out by the San Diego Padres or in 2019 when they were dropped by the Washington Nationals.
This year, LA holds a bye during the wild-card week once again. So they will be awaiting the winner of the series between the Milwaukee Brewers and Arizona Diamondbacks. Both could give LA a run for their money, but one writer believes LA makes it to the NLCS before they get knocked out.
However, Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report reports that LA will lose in seven games to the Philadelphia Phillies, not the daunting Atlanta Braves.
"If the question is what the Dodgers do better than the Phillies, relief pitching is one clear answer. It's just not enough to assume they'd be able to get past the defending National League champs with a trip to the World Series on the line.
Phillies in 7"
Per Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report
If the Dodgers were to match up with the Phillies in the NLCS, it would be a tough series. The Phillies are a very solid team that has both the offense and pitching to win. They made it to the World Series last season, and likely want to redeem themselves this year.
"And while the Dodgers' offense is unquestionably better than Milwaukee's, would anyone take it over Philadelphia's at this point? Knowing how dangerous the Phillies offense was in the final two months of the regular season, that's certainly not the inclination here."
Per Zachary D. Rymer of Bleacher Report
It would be an interesting series for sure, with Philadelphia having a few former Dodgers on the roster. But before the Phillies can even think about a date with the Dodgers, they need to get by the Miami Marlins first, and then the league-leading Atlanta Braves, which will be no easy task.
It is a fun thought for sure, and if it happens, it would make for quite a championship series.
