The Dodgers have a clear need at the trade deadline: Starting pitching help. Their rotation has been tied together by multiple rookie pitchers for the better part of the season, and it has finally caught up to them.

The magic of the rookies is starting to dwindle as opposing teams now have more tape of their game, so with the deadline coming next week, LA has work to do.

They have been linked heavily with the Chicago White Sox about Lucas Giolito for weeks, but there is another pitcher from Chicago that could fit in LA, and that would be veteran Lance Lynn.

Mike Petriello of MLB.com put together a list of under-the-radar trade candidates and linked Lynn to the Dodgers. LA needs someone who can get guys out, and Lynn does that well, especially with the punch-out.

"His strikeout rate is up.

Lynn is striking out nearly 28% of batters he’s faced, which is well above the Major League average and would be his highest since 2019."

Per MLB.com

For the year, Lynn holds a high ERA of 6.18, so there is some concern. His main issue has been left-handed hitters and giving up the long ball.

But despite the high ERA, it could allow the Dodgers to make a cheaper deal to acquire his services. Maybe getting a change of scenery, combined with getting help from the Dodgers' pitching staff could solve some of the issues.

Lynn does have some issues, but he has been killing right-handed hitting this season.

"He’s just as effective as he’s ever been against right-handed hitters.

They’re hitting just .200/.276/.338 against him this year, which is essentially the same as his career average. Whatever his problem is, it’s mostly not this."

Per MLB.com

Lynn wouldn’t be the home-run-hitting name that many fans are hoping for, but he is solid. He wouldn’t be a bad pickup at all and the Dodgers could use all the help they can get.

The team could also go out and grab another pitcher as well to help solidify the depth of the rotation. This next week should be interesting for the boys in blue.
