One major part of the Dodgers offseason will be to pay attention to how infielder Gavin Lux progresses from his injury. He was hurt during Spring Training last season and missed the entire year dealing with a torn ACL and sprained LCL.

He has been recovering well, but there is still work to do for him to be ready to start the 2024 season. The Dodgers are hoping that he is ready to go, but they are also doing their due diligence at the shortstop position, just in case.

It is being reported that they are looking at two names on the trade market, with the hope of upgrading the position. LA has the means to make a trade, and we could see them pull the trigger.

"The Dodgers, however, will continue to monitor the trade market for a shortstop, mainly Milwaukee’s Willy Adames and Toronto’s Bo Bichette."

Per Juan Toribio of MLB.com

Adames is an interesting candidate for LA, as he is entering the final year of arbitration before free agency. The Dodgers may not want money on the books long-term, so he could make some sense. Last season with the Milwaukee Brewers, he hit .217 with 24 home runs and 80 runs batted in.

Adames has been linked with the Dodgers for some time now, and maybe this is the offseason that we finally see him dealt. The Brewers are reportedly considering going on a firesale, so maybe LA could net him and starting pitcher Corbin Burnes in a package deal.

As for Bichette, he hit .306 with 20 home runs and 73 runs batted in for the Blue Jays this past season. He has been one of the better players for Toronto over the last few years, so it could take a ton for them to move him.

Both Adames and Bichette would give the Dodgers some peace of mind at the shortstop position entering into next season. They aren’t 100 percent sure that Lux will be ready to go, so getting a contingency plan together is the smart move.

The Dodgers know that they need to get better all across the roster, and this is just one of many pathways to doing so. It will be an interesting offseason for LA, and we should see plenty of action coming from the team.
