Dodgers Rumors: Max Muncy Isn't Thinking About Shohei Ohtani Just Yet
There has been no shortage of coverage about the Dodgers interest in signing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani this winter, and with the offseason finally here, the Dodgers will be all-in. The team has been wanting Ohtani in Dodger blue for some time now, and this is their chance to land him.
Despite the fact that he won't be pitching next season due to a torn UCL, Ohtani still brings major value to any team. He is the biggest show in baseball, and it would give LA a spark throughout the organization.
The players know what could be coming, as there has been talk about it for years. Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy opened up about the possibility of the team landing two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani but acknowledged that he hasn’t fully thought about it.
"That thought will definitely creep in at some point. It hasn't got there yet. I think it's because we're still in LA, we haven't gone back home yet. It's still kind of like oh the season's not really over even though it is over. So I feel like because we're still in LA, you don't really feel like that but I know there'll come a time when it's like, alright what's next year gonna be like? Who's gonna be there? And you'll definitely start thinking about Shohei at that point."

Foul Territory
I respect Muncy for taking the high ground here, but I call lies on this. He is human, and it’s natural to envision someone like Ohtani playing alongside him next season.
Ohtani would give a major boost to this Dodgers team for 2024 and beyond. But Muncy probably doesn’t want to get in trouble for potentially saying anything since Ohtani is technically a free agent at this point. Muncy himself could be a free agent, with LA having a club option on him for next season.
It remains to be seen if Ohtani does sign with LA, but they have to like their chances for it to happen.
