Insider Thinks Dodgers Would Be Perfect Fit for World Series Winning Free Agent Pitcher
The Dodgers are prioritizing their starting rotation this winter, and with that, it likely means that they are ready to spend some money. They have already been linked to multiple top-tier pitchers, but there is one left-hander who could make all the sense in the world.
MLB insider Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report has linked the Dodgers with World Series-winning pitcher Jordan Montgomery this offseason. He would be an incredible get for LA, and fill a big need in their rotation.
"Left-hander Jordan Montgomery would provide just that after making at least 30 starts in three consecutive seasons and tossing a career-high 188.2 innings in 2023. He added three wins and a 2.90 ERA in 31 innings during the Texas Rangers run to a title, and he could be a rock-solid No. 2/3 starter in the Dodgers rotation."
Per Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report
Montgomery would likely slide behind either Walker Buehler or Bobby Miller in the rotation, but that could be scary for opposing teams. He showed how dominant he could be during the postseason, posting an ERA of 2.90 in six appearances for the Texas Rangers.
He is a proven playoff pitcher, something that the Dodgers desperately need. He owns an ERA of 2.63 and 24 strikeouts over eight playoff appearances. Most of them came this past year, but he did have solid outings for the St. Louis Cardinals and New York Yankees in past seasons.
Montgomery has made at least 30 starts in each of the last three seasons, and he would provide LA with some needed stability in their rotation. The Dodgers need someone like him, and while it may take a large contract to make it happen, it could be well worth it.
