Update on Dodgers Shortstop Miguel Rojas Who Exited Wednesday’s Game Against Giants
Dodgers starting shortstop Miguel Rojas left Wednesday's win in the 4th inning. Rojas hit an infield single, but came up gimpy as he got to first base.
Rojas tried to stretch his leg out, but ultimately was taken out of the game.
While the injury appeared to be a cramp in the moment, players aren't usually taken out due to cramping. However, shortly after he was removed from the game, the Dodgers sent out an update on Twitter, saying he left the game with a left hamstring cramp.
And after the game, Rojas spoke to Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic, and gave a more detailed update.
He said he's feeling fine, and had his leg wrapped too tight from the groin injury that kept him out of the lineup last week. He also said he could have stayed in the game if he had more time to unwrap it and stretch it out.
This is good news for the Dodgers, as they have a lack of shortstop depth on the roster right now. Rojas and Chris Taylor are the only two shortstops, and Taylor has struggled mightily at the plate this season.
The last thing the Dodgers need is for Rojas to miss more time and, fortunately, it doesn't sound like that's going to be the case.
However, he did have to leave a spring training game with a cramp, too, so maybe the Dodgers need to find a solution so this problem doesn't persist.
