In the past week, there was some movement on the SF Giants farm. Power-pitching right-hander reliever Tyler Myrick and consistent bat/outfielder Victor Bericoto (Giants Top 21 Prospect) became the newest prospects to get promoted from the Eugene Emeralds (High-A) to the Richmond Flying Squirrels (Double-A). The pair join right-handed reliever Ben Madison (8-1, 2.83 ERA, and 64 SO in 41.1 innings pitched this year), who was recently promoted as well.

While with the Emeralds this year, Bericoto won Northwest League Player of the Week in June. He had a stellar first half, hitting .296/.353/.533 in 270 at-bats with an organization-high 16 home runs. Myrick has flown under the radar but has a 1.04 ERA with 25 strikeouts and seven walks in 26 innings pitched at Eugene this season.

The Giants signed Bericoto as an international free agent back in 2018. Since then, his plate discipline and hitting ability have consistently improved and have made him an intriguing prospect. He first joined the DSL Giants in 2019, slashing .344/.472/.485 in 227 plate appearances, and has held his own across stints in the Rookie League and at Single-A San Jose. Defensively, Bericoto has played multiple defensive positions but has been limited to the outfield corners and first base.

Myrick, a Gainesville, Florida native, was originally drafted by the Texas Rangers in the 40th round of the 2019 MLB June Amateur Draft from Florida International University but returned to school and turned pro when the Giants drafted him in the 14th round of the 2021 draft.

Last season, Myrick spend time at three Giants affiliates in the lower minors but primarily played at Single-A San Jose. During that stint, he posted a 3.38 ERA and 31 strikeouts in 32 innings pitched. He also participated in the Arizona Fall League following the season.

After a strong performance early this season, both Victor Bericoto and Tyler Myrick received well-deserved promotions to Double-A Richmond. They will continue to try and solidify themselves as top prospects in the SF Giants farm system in hopes of one day reaching the major leagues.
