Progressive Field held a sight to see on Saturday night. The baseball wasn't all that great, but the uniform matchup was about as aesthetically pleasing as it gets. The Cleveland Guardians' deep red jerseys contrasted with the St. Louis Cardinals' powder blue beautifully.

Honestly, an all-time jersey matchup.

Now onto the baseball part. There wasn't a whole lot of offense in this one. Part of that had to do with the incredible pitcher's duel between rookie Tanner Bibee and veteran Jack Flaherty, but both offenses struggled.

The game was tied at 1-1 until the top of the 10th when the Cardinals scored the winning run making it a game 2-1 game.

The final score doesn't do justice to the disparities in this one. St. Louis scored two runs on two hits. One was a solo shot from Brendan Donovan and he scored again on a past ball.

The Cardinals had a huge opportunity to do some damage in the seventh inning when James Karinchak came into relief for Bibee. The reliever walked the first three batters he faced loading the bases for St. Louis with no outs.

The Guardians were lucky to escape catastrophe thanks to Sam Hentges who came into the game and got Cleveland out of the jam.

The offense was once again lackluster for the Guardians when it truly mattered. Amed Rosario had a couple of doubles and Jose Ramirez had a few hits as well. The team did have a total of eight hits but was only able to turn that into a single run.

Cleveland's biggest opportunity to do some damage came in the bottom of the eighth inning. Jose has a base hit to right field and got to second base after Oscar Mercado bobbled the ball. One wild pitch later and Ramirez found himself at third with no outs.

However, Josh Bell, Andres Gimenez, and Myles Straw failed to bring the go-ahead run home.

Cleveland gave up the winning run in extras. Donovan stole third and then scored on a past ball with David Fry in at catcher. When it was Cleveland's turn in extras, they went down quietly with three straight outs on easy plays.

Not a great way for the Guardians to go down. At least they still play for the series tomorrow.
