Cleveland Guardians Injury Update: George Valera And Sam Hentges

There's good news on the injury front for George Valera and Sam Hentges
In this story:

The Cleveland Guardians got away with some magic in 2022 without having any of their star players miss significant time with injury. Perhaps, that had something to do with them being the youngest team in baseball.

However, the Guardians are already getting hit with the injury bug just two and a half weeks into Spring Training. But there is some good news on this front.

George Valera

Geoge Valera has barely played this Spring due to an injury he reaggravated on February 28. He received surgery to repair an injured wrist over the offseason so it's an area that's been of concern in the past.

The good news is that Valera is performing some lighter activities and work in order to work his way back onto the field. Cleveland will take it slow though. There's no reason to rush back a highly-ranked prospect when you have plenty of outfielders already at the Big League level.

It doesn't seem like this will alter his timeline to MLB too much, but being cautious is the correct approach.

Sam Hentges

Sam Hentges turned into one of the Guardians' elite pieces of their bullpen being the only lefty they had. This made it even more concerning when it was announced he would be week-to-week with shoulder inflammation.

But Terry Francona said that Hentges is progressing when well and he wouldn't be surprised if he was back quickly.
