Guardians Hit A Pair Of Home Runs In Win Over Team Mexico

Gabriel Arias and Jose Ramirez each hit home runs to help the Cleveland Guardians get a 6-0 win over Team Mexico.

The Cleveland Guardians played a pretty unique game on Wednesday. They participated in an exhibition match (part of Spring Training) against Team Mexico as they continue to prep for the World Baseball Classic which has officially begun.

Even though Team Mexico isn't an MLB team, they are still loaded with MLB players such as Alex Verdugo, Luis Urias, and Randy Arozarena just to name a few.

The Guardians had one of their best games since Spring Traning began almost two weeks ago in this one. Outside of Zach Plesac pitching a solid four innings, the offense looked the best it's been all Spring.

Cleveland ended the game with 11 hits, six RBI, and just seven runners left on base by the time the ninth inning was over. This included some moon shots from a couple of familiar names to fans.

Gabriel Arias

Gabriel Arias may be the most intriguing player out of any of the Guardians this Spring. He received sporadic playing time last season but is looking to have his role increased in the upcoming season. He has the ability to play anywhere in the infield but got the start at second base today with Andres Gimenez off to the WBC.

Arias only had one hit in his two at-bats against Team Mexico, but the hit was no doubt about it home run to deep left center.

There's been a lot of hype around Arias as he's progressed through the minors and we're starting to see why!

Jose Ramirez

Jose Ramirez had a big game going 2-for-3 including his first home run of the 2023 calendar year. He was also responsible for three of the Guardians' six RBI.

Ramirez's hand injury he suffered in June of last year which required surgery to repeat has been well documented since it became public. His swing has looked incredible so far this Spring and he's clearly more comfortable swinging a bat.
