Tuesday was a long day for the Cleveland Guardians

The unknown and uncertainly that is the MLB trade deadline filled the baseball world for the majority of the day. Then they were no-hit by Houston Astros' Framber Valdez.

Valdez was locked on from the very first inning. He struck out five of Cleveland's first seven hitters making them look silly in the process. The lefty continued to load up the strike zone and the Guardians hitters couldn't do anything with the pitches.

Framber even had a perfect game into the fifth innings until he walked Oscar Gonzalez. He ended up being Cleveland's only base runner. Will Brennan grounded into a double play to end the inning which helped Valdez face the minimum through the rest of the game.

Outside of this one baserunner, Valdez didn't hit a roadblock the entire night. He only threw 93 pitches and 53 of those were strikes. That's the definition of efficiency.

No team has been no-hit more times (6) since 2003 than Cleveland. They've been on the wrong end of these types of games five times since the start of 2021 highlighting the team's offense shortcomings for multiple seasons. They also have the longest no-hitter drought with the last one coming on May 15, 1981.

The Guardians being no-hit on the same day they stood pat without adding another bat in the middle of a division race will surely be brought up by the media and fans. As for now, they'll have to hope they can click on offense if they hope to return to the playoffs.
