The MLB trade deadline isn't until August 1, but the Cleveland Guardians and Baltimore Orioles are already getting in on the action as they pulled off a trade on Thursday afternoon.

The Orioles will be sending RHP Chris Vallimont to the Guardians in exchange for cash considerations.

Vallimont was a fifth-round pick by the Miami Marlins in 2018. He made his Big League debut on July 3 and pitched 0.2 innings of relief he allowed one hit and struck out one batter in the putting.

He also grew up not too far from Cleveland. Vallimont is from Erie, Pennsylvania, and went to Mercyhurst University.

The 26-year-old has started 85 games in his Minor League career and posted a 4.89 ERA and 1.39 WHIP.

Cleveland also transferred Triston McKenzie to the 60-Day IL for the second time this season so this move could be to help bolster the starting rotation depth. He could be an option for the Guardians to go to in order to give Logan Allen, Tanner Bibee, and Gavin Williams rest through.

This seems like a minor trade right now, but it could be useful in terms of preserving the rotation down the line.
