Guardians Make Handful Of Roster Moves, Tyler Freeman Optioned
The Cleveland Guardians began their Sunday morning making a number of roster moves.
Tyler Freeman Optioned To Triple-A
Tyler Freeman was recalled earlier this week when concerns grew about Amed Rosario's back injury and whether he would need to make a trip to the injured list. There was also an open roster spot with Enyel De Los Santos on the paternity list.
Calling up Freeman was an obvious choice. However, Rosario's back seems to be alright and De Los Santos is back with the team so Freeman has been sent back down.
Freeman played fairly well in his short stint with the Big League club. He went 2-for-7 and even scored a run in the two games he played.
Logan Allen To Make Debut
News broke on Friday that the Guardians were planning on calling up Logan Allen to make his debut on Sunday. That turned out to be the case and he'll pitch in the series finale against the Miami Marlins.
Allen is Cleveland's eighth-ranked prospect and has a ton of potential. He's made three starts this season in MiLB posting a 1.26 ERA.
Bryan Lavastida DFA'ed
Cleveland had a tough decision to make when they decided to call up Logan Allen. Allen wasn't on the 40-man roster meaning that someone had to be the odd man out.
In this case, it is Bryan Lavastida who was at Doule-A this season. Laca made Cleveland's Opening Day roster in 2022 but has struggled at the plate ever since being sent back down.
The catcher is still only 24 years old so there's a good chance another team will give him a chance.
