Miguel Cabrera On List Of All-Time Legends To Do This Against Cleveland During Their Career
Miguel Cabrera wrapped up his career at Progressive Field by doing what he did best against Cleveland during his Hall of Fame career. He ripped a ball down the first base foul line which rolled to the corner in right field. Miggy took a hard round at first base and was held to a long single.
The baseball world will say farewell to one of the game's all-time greats when the season ends. However, the Cleveland Guardians won't miss not having to pitch to Miguel Cabrera again.
Miggy has played in 127 games at Progressive Field since the ballpark opened in 1994. He currently leads all MLB visiting hitters with 26 home runs, 146 RBI, and 49 extra-base hits. But it's not just at the corner of Carnagie and Ortanrio where Cabrera has tortured Cleveland all these years.
If he doesn't take another at-bat against the Guardians this season, Cabrera will finish his career hitting a .307 batting average, 50 homers, and 176 RBI against Cleveland. He's currently one of just five MLB players too.300-or-better-average, 50 or more home runs, and 175 RBI against Cleveland in their career.
The other players are Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Jimmie Foxx, and Lou Gehrig.
That's an incredible list to even try to comprehend. Cabrera has truly been that good against Cleveland during his career. It will be weird watching Guardians-Tigers games next season and not having Miggy in the lineup, in the dugout, or on the roster.
