Folks, it's happening!

The time has come for Bo Naylor to be the Cleveland Guardians' starting catcher.

The team announced on Friday afternoon that they had designated Mike Zunino for assignment. This was after he struggled on offense all year and became a defensive liability behind the plate.

With Zunino now gone, social media exploded with the possibility of Cleveland's third overall prospect finally being called up. It didn't take long for reports to leak out that Naylor will in fact be joining the Big League roster shortly.

Naylor has played in 10 games with the Guardians over the last two seasons, but is still searching for his first Major League hit. He made his debut on October 1, 2022, and was a part of the team's playoff roster receiving valuable experience.

He was most recently called up on May 21 to be the team's 27th man for their doubleheader against the New York Mets. Now it's his time to take over the full catching duties.

This move is well overdue. Naylor is currently hitting .253 with an OPS of .891 which includes 13 home runs and 48 RBI at Triple-A Columbus. The Guardians have been in dire need of any sort of offense, especially from their catchers, and Naylor could be that answer.

The plan will reportedly be for Bo to join the team on Saturday and catch Tanner Bibee in the series finale against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday.
