The Bright Lights Will Be On The Guardians In 2023
The 2022 season was the year where the Guardians came into the season with little expectations and a ton of inexperienced players. They were the youngest team in MLB and it really wasn't close. No one saw them as a threat to be a playoff team, let alone win the division but that's exactly what Cleveland did.
That was a great story, but that was last season.
The Guardians won't be able to use some of the same justifications or mentality as last season saying that they were counted out or no one believed in them. They definitely have expectations this upcoming season and their national TV schedule is a prime example.
MLB released the official game times and schedule for the upcoming season and there was one main thing that jumped out as a Guardians fan. That's the number of nationally televised games Cleveland has been rewarded with.
They will currently have 10 of their 162 regular season games spread across ESPN, FOX, FS1, and Peacock. Their first nationally televised game will be the second game of the season airing on April 1 out in Seattle.
The Guardians will also be on the national stage against the Angeles, Mets, Cardinals, Twins, D-Backs, Cubs, Royals, White Sox, and Tigers.
Cleveland deserves to get all the national attention that they are getting with this schedule. They are defending divisional champions who won a playoff series last season.
Now it's time to see if they can live up to the hype.
