WATCH: Jose Ramirez Of The Guardians Hits Double In MLB All-Star Game
The Cleveland Guardians had just one All-Star representative in this year's game. Jose Ramirez made Jose Ramirez.
Ramirez stepped up to the plate in the - inning for his first plate appearance of the night. He was facing Camilo Doval of the San Francisco Giants who currently has an ERA of 2.63 and can consistently throw his fastball in the triple digits.
Doval also leads the National League with 26 saves. It wasn't an easy matchup for Jose, but he's never been one to back down from a fight.
Ramirez took a swing at a high fastball and ripped it the opposite way. The ball got in the gap and rolled to the wall which allowed Jose to stroll into second base with a stand-up double.
The ball came off the bat with an exit velocity of 98.4 which was the ninth hardest-hit ball in the game at the time.
Jose hitting a double in the All-Star Game honestly just feels right. The third baseman has plenty of pop, but those extra-base hits are really where he shines. Ramirez led the league last season with 44 doubles and he's currently tied for 13th in the league with 23. Freddie Freeman leads the way with 31.
