Three Guardians Who Could Be Traded Before The MLB Deadline
We're quickly closing in on the MLB trade deadline and not many teams have started to make moves yet. This includes the Cleveland Guardians who have a decision to make on whether they'll be buyers or sellers ... or both.
If the team does decide to move on from some of their talent, these are three potential candidates who could be moved.
Amed Rosario
Amed Rosario's tenure in Cleveland has been complicated. He was at the center of the Francisco Lindor trade with the New York Mets and has had his moments where he looked like one of the best offense shortstops in baseball.
However, we also can't deny that Rosario does leave a lot to be desired on defense.
Amed will be a free agent this offseason and it's hard to see the Guardians bringing him back if they hold onto all of their infield depth. A contender could be interested in adding Rosario and the Guardians could bring in a prospect or two if they opt to end his time in Cleveland early.
Aaron Civale
There have been rumors all season about whether the Guardians would trade Shane Bieber before the deadline. However, his latest trip to the injured list has complicated the situation and lowered the chances of a team wanting to acquire him.
If Cleveland is still determined to take advantage of their surplus of starting pitching (when fully healthy) someone such as Aaron Civale could be a player opposing teams become interested in.
Civale has made 11 starts this season and currently owns a 2.71 ERA. He can be an effective middle-of-the-rotation pitcher when healthy.
A Young Middle Infielder
It's hard to put an exact name on this one. Gabriel Arias, Tyler Freeman, Brayan Rocchio, Jose Tena, and Juan Brito can't all play shortstop at the same time. Andres Gimenez has second base locked up so that position is off the table too.
If the team opts to keep Rosario and wants to make a big trade it would make a lot of sense to see Arias, Freeman, or Rocchio as part of a deal to acquire an everyday outfielder.
