Breaking Down Guardians’ 2023 Organizational All-Stars: Outfielders
Yesterday, MLB.com announced MiLB.com’s 2023 Organizational All-Stars for the Cleveland Guardians. These are, “the players, -- regardless of age or prospect status -- who had the best seasons” in the Cleveland farm system.
In our last 2023 Organizational All-Stars breakdown, we examined the infielders represented on the list.
Now, here is a breakdown of the Guardians’ 2023 Organizational All-Star outfielders.
Johnathan Rodríguez
Cleveland’s 2023 Hitting Prospect of the Year had a monster season at the plate.
Across Double-A Akron and Triple-A Columbus, the Guardians’ 24th-ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline hit .286 with 142 hits, 59 extra-base hits, 29 home runs, 88 RBI, .529 SLG, and .897 OPS, all of which led qualified Cleveland Minor Leaguers.
Chase DeLauter
After being activated from the 60-day injured list on June 29th, the Guardians’ 2022 first-round pick was one of the premier hitters in Cleveland’s system.
Across rookie ball, High-A Lake County, and Double-A Akron, DeLauter hit .355 with 76 hits, five home runs, 39 RBI, 22 doubles, and a .945 OPS in just 57 games.
Of his 42 games played in High-A, the Guardians’ fourth-ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline hit safely in 36 of them.
In his first 15 Arizona Fall League games, the 22-year-old is leading the Peoria Javelinas with 16 RBI (as of before tonight’s game), while hitting .259 with 14 hits, two home runs, and two doubles.
Jaison Chourio
At just 18 years old, Chourio is already Cleveland’s eighth-ranked prospect per MLB Pipeline.
In 48 games across rookie ball and Single-A Lynchburg, he hit .321 with one home run, 28 RBI, 13 doubles, 20 stolen bases, .446 OBP, and .864 OPS.
