The Miami Marlins still haven't found a fifth starter.

While waiting for imaging on the elbow of young phenom Eury Peréz, the team is busy building up projected starters Braxton Garrett and Edward Cabrera after shoulder soreness disrupted their Grapefruit League schedule and ultimately will have them on the IL for Opening Day.

But the 5th starter's role that's still vacant won't be filled by non-roster invitee Yonny Chirinos, who was reassigned to minor league camp today

Chirinos, who was with both Tampa Bay and Atlanta last season after being claimed on waivers at midseason, made the start yesterday against St. Louis and stumbled, allowing six runs on five hits and three walks, not making it out of the 4th inning.

That start left Chirinos with a 5.91 ERA in his 10.2 spring training innings, striking out five and walking four. He allowed seven runs on eleven hits, good for a 1.41 WHIP.

And obviously that wasn't good enough for Miami, who reassigned him (along with reliever Elvis Alvarado) to minor league camp today.

That leaves only two non-roster invitees still in camp, recent signing Mychal Givens and Vladimir Guiterrez. Givens is purely a reliever, while Guiterrez has made thirty-two major league appearances in his career with thirty of them being starts.

Miami's using him as a reliever this spring, though, and he has seven total innings across his five appearances.)

So who's the fifth starter?

The options are either to call up Max Meyer from AAA Jacksonville (he was optioned last week) or go with a depth option like Bryan Hoeing or possibly prospect Patrick Monteverde, starting today
