Mets Activate Brooks Raley From IL
WASHINGTON - The Mets now have one of their high-leverage relievers back in their bullpen.
Prior to Game 2 of their doubleheader with the Nationals on Sunday, the Mets activated left-handed reliever Brooks Raley from the injured list.
The return of Raley gives manager Buck Showalter a left-handed option out of the bullpen, which has been missing since he landed on the shelf.
Raley has been on the IL with elbow inflammation since April 28.
Prior to hitting the IL, Raley posted a 4.76 ERA in 11.1 innings.
In order to make room for Raley on the roster, the Mets designated Dennis Santana for assignment.
The Mets called up Santana for Game 1 of their doubleheader with the Nationals. Santana pitched a scoreless inning in the 3-2 loss before being jettisoned again.
