A move has been made.

The Mets are calling up top prospect slugger Mark Vientos to provide a boost for their struggling offense.

ESPN's Jeff Passan was the first to report this news.

In 38 games for Triple-A Syracuse this season, Vientos is hitting .333 with 13 home runs, 37 RBIs and a 1.104 OPS. ESPN has the 23-year-old ranked as the Mets' No. 6 prospect.

Vientos has the ability to play first base and third base, as well as DH. Manager Buck Showalter will determine where he plays and how much time he sees.

The have lost 16 of their last 22 games and are 10th in the NL in runs scored (179). They're also 11th in team batting average (.240), 11th in OPS (.704) and 13th in slugging percentage (.382).

The hope is that Vientos and his power bat can help provide a spark to what has been a disappointing offensive unit this season.
