The New York Mets will have plenty of roster decisions to make this offseason.

New York's main roster holes to fill this offseason certainly are in the starting rotation after dealing away Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer ahead of the 2023 Major League Baseball Trade Deadline. Although this is the case, they will have some other tough decisions to make. One the club will have to decide is the future of slugger Daniel Vogelbach and SNY's Danny Abriano hinted it could be time to move on.

"The Mets could conceivably tender Vogelbach a contract and then attempt to trade him after, but there's really no reason to," Abriano said. "For a team like the Mets that needs to add a number of starting-caliber position players and rebuild its bench, having Vogelbach on the roster would be an impediment. It's time to move on."

Vogelbach is under team control and could earn a cheap deal in arbitration but at this point, it may not make sense to do so. The 30-year-old struggled in 2023 slashing .233/.339/.404 with 13 home runs and 48 RBIs in 104 games. There even reportedly was a disconnect in the clubhouse as former manager Buck Showalter wanted to bench Vogelbach while former general manager Billy Eppeler disagreed.

The one-time All-Star has an interesting stint, to say the least, in New York after joining the club in 2022 but there is a chance his time with Mets could come to an end this upcoming offseason.
