The New York Mets may have missed out on their top choice in free agency, but that doesn't mean the club doesn't have another few moves up their sleeves.

New York has added former All-Star Luis Severino already this offseason in free agency and it sounds like it could be targeting another former All-Star. Former Washington Nationals, Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Angels, and Cleveland Guardians hurler Lucas Giolito is available and could be an option for the Mets.

The one-time All-Star struggled in the second half of the 2023 season but has plenty of upside. New York even reportedly is showing "strong interest" in landing the former All-Star, according to the New York Post's Mike Puma.

"The Mets are showing strong interest in the right-hander, whose top selling point might be his ability to consume innings. Giolito, pitched 184 1/3 innings last season — divided among the (Chicago White Sox), (Los Angeles Angels), and (Cleveland Guardians) — marking the fourth time since 2018 he surpassed 170 in a season.

"He finished with 204 strikeouts last season, which ranked sixth in the American League. Giolito had a solid first half with the White Sox last season, but beginning in mid-July went through a divorce and was later traded twice, factors that may have contributed to his shaky numbers after the All-Star break."

It's too early to tell if a move will happen, but with Shohei Ohtani and Yoshinobu Yamamoto off the market, things are expected to pick up quickly in free agency.
