Mets Reportedly Will Add Hurler 'Soon;' Could Big Move Be Coming For New York?
The New York Mets still may have at least one move up their sleeve.
New York hasn't made a major splash this offseason but instead has opted for multiple smaller moves with upside. The most notable moves for the Mets to this point certainly was adding pitchers Luis Severino and Sean Manaea.
The Mets still have some work to do but likely won't spend big. Although this is the case, New York reportedly is still pursuing bullpen help and will add a hurler soon, according to SNY's Andy Martino.
"As reported on the Hot Stove show last night, the Mets are active in the relief market," Martino said. "They will add to the bullpen soon. Plenty of good options."
Luckily for the Mets there still are some very solid options out there. If New York wanted to land the top arm out there it could turn to fireballer Josh Hader but that move wouldn't make much sense with Edwin Díaz returning to the mound.
Another top option out there is former St. Louis Cardinals and Toronto Blue Jays fireballer Jordan Hicks. There will be plenty of competition for his services so the Mets could end up missing out.
A few other options out there that could make sense to some extent are Aroldis Chapman, Wandy Peralta, or a reunion with Adam Ottavino. New York could use at least one or two high-leverage arms and it sounds like it knows this too.
Don't be surprised if the Mets ink a deal for a reliever this week.
