Good news for the Mets' bullpen.

Relief pitcher Brooks Raley told reporters on Tuesday that there is a "strong possibility" that he'll be ready for Opening Day.

"Obviously I really hope to be there," Raley said. "I definitely see that as a strong possibility.

"But we have to take this one day at a time and not push this because a setback will be the biggest issue here."

Raley was removed from Team USA's World Baseball Classic roster over the weekend due to a low grade hamstring strain.

While Raley is optimistic about being ready for Opening Day, he is taking a day-by-day approach and does not yet know when he will be able to get back on the mound.

The Mets acquired Raley from the Tampa Bay Rays in December. The 34-year-old is expected to be the lone left-hander in the Mets' bullpen this season.

Along with Raley, the Mets have closer Edwin Diaz, Adam Ottavino, David Robertson and Drew Smith as their group of high leverage relievers.
