So far so good.

After getting beaned on the helmet by a pitch on Sunday, Mets outfielder Starling Marte's initial tests for a concussion came back negative.

The plan is for Marte to be reevaluated on Monday, but as manager Buck Showalter said, he "may have gotten lucky" and he was "pretty coherent, talking clearly."

Marte made his Grapefruit League debut on Friday, in which he doubled and homered against the Houston Astros.

The Mets had been holding Marte out of exhibition play until this weekend as a precautionary measure after he underwent double groin surgery in the offseason.

In his first season with the Mets in 2022, Marte made a smooth transition over to right field and was a fixture in the lineup in the No. 2 hole.

Marte fractured his middle finger after getting hit by a pitch in early September, which caused him to miss several weeks down the stretch of the regular season.

With Marte out, the Mets' lineup struggled immensely and ultimately wound up losing their division lead in the National League East to the Atlanta Braves.

The Mets have played it safely with Marte in Spring Training, who seemingly dodged a bullet on Sunday after getting beaned on the helmet.
