Since Mike Elias has taken over as general manager of the Baltimore Orioles, he has propelled them into a new age beyond their rebuilding era that resulted in them finishing as one of the worst teams in the MLB year after year.

He oversaw drafts that landed them future superstars Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson, along with other top prospects in their pipeline.

The Orioles GM earned Executive of the Year honors for this past season and is viewed as one of the best front office members in the entire league.

Elias was a previous member of the Houston Astros organization before taking his current role with Baltimore. He offered some insight on an executive who was promoted to the Astros assistant general manager role.

"I think it’s going to be great for him and for the players — he’s got a great way of relating to them, but he also understands what everyone is doing in (research and development) and up and down the whole program," he told Chandler Rome of The Athletic about Gavin Dickey who will oversee the player development part of Houston's organization.

Elias was Dickey's boss in Houston before he took his role with the Orioles.

There's a chance that both franchises could be facing each other in the postseason for years to come based on how their rosters are set up to succeed in the future.

One of the main things that Elias has brought to Baltimore is his player analysis. He oversaw that aspect during his time in Houston and has brought that skillset to the Orioles.

Elias doesn't have the ability to spend on the open market like the Astros have been able to, but that hasn't stopped him from building a dominant team in the American League for years to come.
