Did Padres Go Too Far With Dodgers Diss Following Friday’s Win?

Fans of the San Diego Padres had every reason to celebrate on Friday night, especially those that were at Petco Park. The Friars were able to start off their first 2023 series against the Los Angeles Dodgers with a 5-2 victory led by none other than Fernando Tatis Jr.
Nando was able to clock in two big home runs while Clayton Kershaw was on the mound and he made his presence felt very early. The 35-year-old veteran pitcher was off to one of his best starts to the season as he was just named the NL Pitcher of the Month and also had a 1.89 ERA coming into Friday night.
However, San Diego did not let any of that faze them and Kershaw was not even able to last five innings to kick off the matchup.

This game also featured Petco Park's 11th sellout crowd of the season in just 33 matches played thus far and they were louder than ever.
Boo's rained down when the Dodgers' names were called, chants of Ha-Seong Kim came right before his big 5th-inning RBI, and they got a major laugh at a certain image that appeared on the Jumbotron after San Diego put the final touches on their win.

A moving picture of Clayton Kershaw crying popped up on the screen after his poor outing and LA's loss and even though it was a subtle move by the stadium's staff, it's safe to say Dodgers fans did not react too kindly.
Twitter users shared their immediate reactions bashing this move.
Legitimately one of the most embarrassing, bush league things a “major league” team has ever done

Even though it wasn't anything too harmful and it was meant be all in competitive fun, it may have been a bit early for the Padres to make such a statement with this.
They still have two more games against the Boys in Blue this weekend and will see them next week as well at Dodger Stadium. I am all for talking mess in good nature and riding high off of a win but maybe San Diego should've waited a tad bit longer to boast a bit.
However, look at it this way. It will only make LA hungrier to come in on Saturday and Sunday with more fire and give us an amazing series on top of what was already coming.
