The San Diego Padres secured a victory over the Colorado Rockies on Saturday, and their stellar defense played a crucial role, thanks in particular to their superstar player, Manny Machado.

Manny's exceptional defensive skills shone brightly in this game, making what can be considered the catch of the year so far. Late in the game, he executed a remarkable over-the-shoulder catch, displaying great agility and concentration, which not only prevented a run but also sealed the Padres' win.

If you haven't seen the catch, check it out down below!

It was a catch that deserves applause, and even Rockies' young infielder Ezequiel Tovar showed his admiration for the superstar by acknowledging his impressive play.

“I think it probably would've been close,” Tovar said. “I think I probably would've made it if I went, I don't know. … Any time you lose, it's frustrating. But you've also got to give credit to Machado on that play -- he got that ball back in, he made a heck of a play.”

Despite being a young player, Tovar undoubtedly recognizes Manny's reputation as a defensive stalwart. Machado's remarkable abilities extend beyond his prowess as a slugger; he has already been honored with two Gold Glove awards for his exceptional defense

The 30-year-old will continue to shine on both sides of the diamond, and we can't wait to see what else he has in store for us There is no doubt there will be more hardware coming Machado's way, and we'll see if Tovar will be around for them.
