In this story:

The will they or won't they narrative of Juan Soto's future in San Diego has taken the Padres over. It has been one of the more talked about parts of their early offseason, and for good reason.

Soto remains one of the best players in the game today, but there has been a ton of buzz around the team trading him this offseason. The team that has gotten the most talk about them in a Soto deal is the New York Yankees.

The two teams have had preliminary conversations about Soto, and those talks could be revisited once the offseason fully gets into it. And we can add more smoke to the fire as well with a former Yankees coach now speaking about the idea of bringing Soto to New York.

Former New York Yankees hitting coach Sean Casey gave his thoughts on it all, and he believes that Soto would do well in pinstripes.

Getting Soto in the mix would bring a spark to the Yankees that they haven’t had in a long time. The evil empire hasn’t been to the World Series since 2009, and for them, that seems like a lifetime.

This could be the move to get them back on top in the American League, especially after a year that saw them miss the postseason. The pairing makes complete sense, and they could provide the Padres with some very solid prospects with the return.

There has been a ton of smoke around a Padres and Yankees deal, and typically when there is this much smoke, there is fire. The two sides just need to come together on the right compensation for both sides and if the team is going to trade Soto, hopefully, it will happen sooner rather than later.

The Padres don’t need this narrative hanging over them all offseason, and it would be nice for them to put their focus into building the rest of the team. So, this will certainly be a major story to monitor closely as time goes on.
