It's no secret that the San Diego Padres have been a disappointment to the fans packing out Petco Park every game.

Sitting fourth in the NL West with a record four games below .500, the Padres have some serious ground to cover after the All-Star break if they are to avoid being one of the most disappointing rosters in the 21st century. The Padres field one of the most expensive payrolls in Major League Baseball yet sit 6 games behind in the NL Wild Card race.

With Aug. 1 only weeks away, fans have wondered what role the Padres, led by general manager AJ Preller, will take at the trade deadline.

Star outfielder Juan Soto thinks that the Padres, whether they buy at the deadline or not, have the talent to make a run in the postseason.

"I think we have everything we need to go to the World Series. And that's our mindset right now," Soto said during All-Star Weekend.

Soto himself has been linked to many potential trades, despite the Padres suggesting that they are not considering trading the three-time All-Star. With Soto set to be a free agent after next season, the Padres have to show the young superstar that it's worth his time to stick around in San Diego.

Luckily for the Padres, it seems that Soto is enjoying his time in Southern California, particularly now that the Friars have entered a winning streak.

"It's great. We try to enjoy it as much as we can. We never know how long we are going to be in this game so I try to enjoy every moment, every game, just go out there and try to give my 100 percent," Soto said. "The team, we always struggle, we've hit tough times but it is what it is. I just tell the guys we keep battling, keep working every day and that's what we do and that's what we did in the last couple series and we had success with it."

Soto has been invaluable to the Padres this season, batting .265/.419/.479 with 15 home runs and 47 runs batted in. The 24-year-old has the fifth-best odds to be named NL MVP, and if he continues to help the Padres move up the standings, his odds could increase.

The Padres open up the second half of the season with a four-game series against Philadelphia. That'll be their first chance to continue their momentum from the end of the first half into the second half of the season.
