One of the biggest storylines of the baseball offseason has been what the San Diego Padres will do with star outfielder Juan Soto. The team has contemplated moving him this winter, but nothing has been finalized yet.

The team has had internal discussions about moving Soto before he enters the final year of his contract. San Diego has not shown a willingness to retain him long-term, leading to the thought of a deal.

There has been a lot of chatter about the New York Yankees being involved in any potential Soto trade, and they seem to be the most aggressive team. New York needs another star player, and they likely want to make a splash this offseason after missing the postseason in 2023.

MLB insider Jon Morosi believes that the Yankees will be "all over" Soto in a potential trade this offseason.

"I have to believe, with the surprising dearth of left-handed power that they had this year, the Yankees are going to be all over Soto in the same way that they are all over Cody Bellinger," Morosi said.

The Yankees make the most sense to land Soto this offseason after their poor 2023 year. They could use his power-hitting left-handed bat in their lineup, and he would add firepower to the team.

They also could likely get him to stay with them long-term, and they have the money to make it happen. He is still one of the best players in the game today, and the Yankees are all about their stars.

He would become a fan favorite in short order, and he could be the missing piece for them. Winning as a member of the Yankees would solidify Soto among the all-time greats.
