Padres RHP Yu Darvish Reacts to the Passing of Peter Seidler
Late Tuesday morning, the entire baseball world came to a halt when the news was announced that San Diego Padres owner Peter Seidler had passed away. He was just 63 years old, and sadness struck the baseball community.
The cause of his death is unknown, but he had been recovering from an undisclosed procedure that he had back in September. Nobody expected this to happen, and the baseball world now mourns his loss.
Seidler was a loved man in the city of San Diego by everyone, from fans to media members, to players, etc. He was fully committed to building a sustainable winning team for the city of San Diego and worked around the clock to make it happen.
Padres pitcher Yu Darvish took to social media after the news came out to express his sadness about the passing, and it was a heartfelt message.
He also paid his respects to Seidler by placing flowers at the memorial for Seidler at Petco Park. It was a classy gesture from the Padres pitcher and showed the impact that the owner had on players.
The biggest dream for Seidler was to see the Padres win a World Series in his lifetime, but unfortunately, that never came to fruition. He wanted the organization to think big at all times, and never back down to other teams.
Seidler didn't see the Padres as a small market franchise and operated in that manner. He believed that they could compete with some of the bigger markets across the league, and over the last few years, he was right.
He will be forever missed, and the world lost a great man.
