The Padres made a surprising and quite shocking move as they optioned their LHP Ryan Weathers. Weathers was called down for LHP Tom Cosgrove. Weathers will be heading to the Padres triple-A affiliate in El Paso.

Many Friar fans didn't like the move, but none were more upset than Ryan's mother, Kelli Weathers, who is over it.

The move came as a shock for many because of Weather's great appearances, as his mother mentioned. Weathers has been with the Padres for the past three seasons but was unimpressive in 2021 and 2022.

In the combined two seasons, he pitched in 31 games, starting in 19 of them, and had a 5.32 ERA in 2021 and a 9.82 ERA in one outing in 2022. This season, he looked more polished and refined, which translated into his outstanding play.

Through five games with the Friars, he went 18 innings with a 2.50 ERA, allowed 15 hits, one home run, 11 strikeouts, and allowed a .238 average.

I'm sure Ryan's dad, David Weather, former big league pitcher, isn't happy with the news either. Kelli isn't happy about it, and many other Padre fans are as well—hopefully, his stint in the triple-A is short-lived.
